Early Saturday morning the Baxter Springs Fire Trucks formed a parade and moved down Military Avenue to their new home.
The Baxter Springs Fire Fighters surrounded Mayor Kelly Abbott at the ribbon cutting officially opening the new fire station and retiring the 99 year old station on Eleventh Street.
After 99 years of service the original fire station in Baxter Springs has been retired and replaced by a modern state-of-the art facility that has been the dream of city firefighters for more than half a century.
