Sportsmen’s Association hosts fishing, casting tournament
Cherokee County Sportsmen’s Club annual Kids Fishing Derby winners in the 10 years old to 12 years old were first place Kaden Fleshman with a 2.44 pound total catch. The “Big Fish” plaque went to Tate Godfrey and second place in the fishing tourney with a 2.32 pound bass and Phillip Turner was third with a 1.86 pound bass.

The 12 and over first place winner was Hunter McVey with a 2.21 pound catch but he did not stay around for the awards. Second place was Aiden Wilson and third place was Ethan Perdue. The first place winner in 12 and over casting was Ethan Perdue, he also took third place in fishing with a .60 of a pound total catch. Brooklyn Hacell was second in casting and Elizabeth Smith as third.
Kinley Baxter took first place in the 7 to 10 year olds casting competition and third place in the same age group fishing contest with a 1.42 pound total catch. Amillia Hudson was second in casting and Camron Fredrick was third.
Mattie Godfrey was the 7 to 9 year old first place in the fishing contest with a 1.47 pound bass and sister Mia Godfrey was second with a 1.43 bass. Kenley Baxter (pictured above) was third.
Waylon Frederick took first place in casting in the six and under contest and second in the fishing contest in the same class, Waylon Wells took second in fishing and Brayden Fredrick took third in casting.
In the ten to twelve division in casting Cassie Whitley took first place, Hunter Davis took second and Rhilee Davis took third.
