Graduation 2026 wraps up Sunday

The graduation season will come to a close Sunday as Galena holds the final commencement of the year.On Saturday both Baxter Springs and Columbus will have their graduation ceremonies on Saturday afternoon.

Columbus Chapter V PEO holds meeting

A business meeting of Chapter V PEO was held April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Technical Campus of Coffeeville Community College. Toni Spieth served as hostess and Betty Martin furnished the raffle prize. Alice Holt was the winner.

Seventh grade authors

Imagine a book about people getting sold by their own parents into slavery just to be able to survive. Huh, that sounds interesting. The book Iqbal by Francesco D’ Adamo, tells about the kids in Pakistan getting sold to a carpet factory so their parents could pay their debts.

Chapter BT of P.E.O. International met at 6 p.m. April 20 in Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs. Hostesses Mary Kirkpatrick and Sue Commons served ice cream sundaes with all the toppings.
