C of C director resigns post

The newly hired Columbus Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Monica Delmont has resigned her position effective November 30.“Please rest assured that the Chamber will continue to operate without interruption.

The courthouse Christmas Tree lights were turned on Wednesday evening just before the parade. It was donated this year by Betty White and lights were installed by Cody Burton. According to Betty the tree was planted in the early 1960’s by her two sons Michael and John Edd and their father John L. White. It eventually blocked the view of the entrance of their drive. Foundation raises $145,992 locally

Columbus donors stepped up in a big way, with over 100 contributors giving $145,992, to the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK). Columbus joined Fort Scott, and Girard in achieving record-breaking results during Match Week 2025.

Badge Tree program will help needy kids

A Columbus tradition is returning as the Columbus Police Department is re-establishing the Angel Tree.Hoping once again to bring Christmas to some needy youngsters they are adding a law enforcement twist with a new name, calling it the Badge Tree.

Blood drive on Monday

The sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at more than 40 hospitals, Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, encourages community members to wrap up the year by saving lives.

Community Christmas service set

Columbus Area Churches Community Christmas Service will be held Sunday, December 14 at 6 p.m. in the First Christian Church, at 120 Elm Street.The First Christian Church Bell Choir will be performing.
Members of the Columbus High School Leo Club were installed at a recent meeting of the Columbus Lion’s Club. Those present for the installation were Cora Welch, Audrey Combs, Riley Holmes, McKensie Richards, Zech McCormick, Draven Rasmussen and Katelyn Draeger. Lions Club members Mark Winter and Buddy Derfelt are advisors for the club.
