Columbus Public Library holds December meeting

Columbus Public Library Board met December 12. The meeting was called to order at 6:08 p.m. by President Curtis Wheatley. Also present were board members: Becky Shearburn, Jessica Rider, Kelly Walters, Linda Griffitt, and Becky Glover Staff members present: Lauren Dainty. 

Becky Shearburn moved and Linda Griffitt seconded a motion to approve the minutes from the November board meeting. The motion carried. 

Dainty presented the monthly bills and Shearburn presented the treasurer’s report for September, October and November. Griffitt made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Jessica Rider seconded the motion. The motion passed. 

Ribbon cutting for the book vending machine at Central School will be Wednesday, December 14 at 9 a.m. 

Librarian’s report showed: Checkouts: 578 books; 38 DVDs; 16 Audio books; seven magazines and 91 HOOPLA. 

There was a discussion of new ideas for future programming for adults. A couple of ideas were a wrapping station for wrapping of gifts and a trivia night. Lauren will check on availability of the Parrish Hall. 

The board went into executive session at 6:10 p.m. for 15 minutes for the purpose of yearly staff evaluations and bonuses. Evaluations were reviewed and accepted. 

A motion was made by Shearburn to accept bonuses of $100 for Lauren Dainty and $75 for Trish Windsor $50 for Deb Pryor, and $50 for Makenna as discussed in executive session. Kelly seconded. Motion passed. 

Griffith made a motion to adjourn and it was seconded by Walters. The motion passed.
