Columbus hosting Babe Ruth Districts

The Columbus Babe Ruth League is hosting the Kansas District 5 East 1316 year-old Tournament, Friday through Sunday at the Community Field Ballpark.Fort Scott and Arma will lead off the four-team, double elimination tournament bracket, Friday at 6 p.m. followed by Columbus vs. Frontenac at 8 p.m.

Rockette Field site for 8U state tourney

Rockette Field in the Columbus Community Field Ballpark has been selected as the site for the 2025 Cal Ripken 8U/ Rookie State Tournament. The event will run concurrently with the District 5 Babe Ruth 13-16 Tournament on Bomber Field at the ballpark.

Columbus hosting tournaments

Columbus Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Leagues are hosting the 2025 Cal Ripken 8U State Tournament and the 13-16 year-old District 5 Babe Ruth Tournament, July 11-13, at the Community Field Ballpark.Games will begin Friday evening on Rockette Field and Bomber Field at the ballpark.

Camp offering obstacle course

The Southeast Running Camp being held July 18-19 at the Weir Church Camp is hosting an “obstacle course” 5K, Saturday, July 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the camp. Those attending the camp will be participating in the event, but it is also open to the public.The course is suitable for all ages.

Locals qualify for Junior Olympics

Five Columbus Athletes qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Track and Field Meet to be held July 28 through August 2 in Humble, Texas.

He received a $14,000 Academic Scholarship, a $3,000 Football Scholarship, and a $1,000 Sibling Scholarship from presenter, Matt Crain, USD 493 Instructor.

Brandon Stice received three scholarships from Wichita State University during the Columbus Unified High School Senior Assembly, May 16, at the CUHS Gym. He was awarded the Stucky Business Scholarship for $21,256, the Morrison Mer-it Scholarship for $14,000, and the DSI Semi-Finalist Scholarship for $4,000.
