Smith wins three in junior high wrestling scramble

The Columbus Titan Wrestlers hosted Parsons and Carl Junction, Mo. in a scramble event, Tuesday at the Central Elementary School Gymnasium. Cajen Smith, seventh grader, was the big winner of the night for Columbus with three wins.The Titans had 20 wins versus 15 for their op- ponents.

Titan Senior, Jack Vilela, wrapped up his career under center for Columbus in the 13-34 loss to Prairie View, Friday. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.Jack has compiled an impressive stat sheet in his two years in the backfield for the Titans.

CJHS Wrestling altered

The junior high school wrestling mixer scheduled for Saturday at Labette County was cancelled due to the lack of participants. It will not be rescheduled.Columbus will be the location for multiple events this week.
The Columbus Junior High Seventh Grade Lady Titans took first place in the Columbus Jamboree at the Central School Gymnasium, Saturday. The Lady Titans started the day with a win over the Northeast B Team, 28-5 and closed out the day with a win over New Heights Christian School, 34-2. Trey Laurance, former Columbus Titan and Emporia State University Junior, competed at the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship Cross Country Meet, Saturday, at the Missouri Southern State University Tom Rutledge Course in Joplin, Mo. Trey placed 159th with a tim of 34.21.

Week 10 football contest results

There were multiple shut outs in this week’s contest including a 49-0 win for Topeka-Hayden over Girard in the Kansas Class 3A Regional.Fellow CNC League member, Riverton, was on the losing end of a 64-0, shut out to Humboldt in the Kansas Class 2A Regional.St.

The Columbus Titans got off to a slow start and could’t overcome the missteps in a 13-34 loss to Prairie View, Friday in the Kansas Class 3A Regional at LaCygne.The Titans won the toss and deferred possession of the ball to the second half.
Two teams tied for first place honors in the seven and eight-year-old division of Columbus Youth Soccer League. The Calibrated/Folder Express team, coached by Brian Martin and Clint Ellis received their certificates and medals during the ceremony on the final day of games in October on Froebe Fields in Eddington Park.
