Labette Co. site for first CC meet

It was a hot yet productive day as area cross country teams opened their 2024 season in the Labette County High School Meet, Thursday, in Altamont.Columbus Titan Sophomore, Drake Laurance, started his sophomore campaign with a seventh place finish in the varsity 5K race with a time of 20:00 minutes.

Volleyball opens at Cherryvale

The Lady Titan Varsity Volleyball Team traveled to Cherryvale, Thursday for a triangular meet with Neodesha. The young team lost both matches, 21-25; 12-25 to their hosts, Cherryvale, and 9-25, 12-25 to Neodesha.

Lady Titan Golf hosts invitational

The Columbus Lady Titan Golf Team came in second with a team total of 216 in the Columbus Invitational Golf Tournament, Thursday, at Brush Creek Golf Course. St. Mary’s-Colgan earned first place with a 177 team total.

SE Volleyball 1-2 in quad opener

Southeast Varsity Volleyball went 1-2 at their season opening quadrangular, Thursday at Baxter Springs. Following a 1925; 14-25 loss to Riverton, the Lady Lancers bounced back to beat Baxter Springs in three sets, 21-25; 25-20; 25-23.

Titan Senior, Jace Midgett, caught five pass es, four for touchdowns, in the 45-28 Columbus win over Independence, Thurs day, at Titan Stadium. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.Midgett's five catch es totaled 179 yards, one more yard than the total accumulated by the Titan ground game.

CJHS 8A sweeps Galena

The Columbus Junior High School 8A Volleyball Team swept the visiting Galena Lady Bulldogs, 25-20; 25-19, in their first match of the season, Tuesday at the CUHS Gymnasium.The two sets were very evenly matched with the home team holding a slim advantage, 11-7, midway through the first rotation.
