Columbus LEO Club members gathered to help assemble food boxes that will be distributed to those in need for the holiday season. Regina Jameson is the LEO Club sponsor Korbyn Newberry, member of the Columbus LEO Club volunteered his time to help fill Thanksgiving food boxes for those in need.

Winter activities Monday

The Columbus Unified High School winter activities kick off Monday with the Titan and Lady Titan Basketball Teams participating in a jamboree at Labette County, beginning at 5 p.m. Both squads will be at Colgan, December 1.

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce is asking for nominations for the “Education Hall of Fame” award. The award honors educators who have made an impact on the lives of their students, in the field of education and/or in their communities and whose work and accomplishments need to be recognized.

The Columbus Annual Christmas Parade is Wednesday evening, November 29. Santa has been contacted and he plans on being in the parade, which will begin at 7 p.m. Line up can begin around 6 p.m. on either side of Vermont or on Maple St. between Vermont and High School.

Chamber encourages downtown decorations

The retail committee is encouraging businesses to light up Columbus and let us be a “Hallmark Christmas town” during the Holiday season by decorating their windows and building. The public is invited to vote on their favorite decorations.
