About 15 would-be cooks gathered at the St. Rose Parish Hall on a recent Sunday afternoon to make home-made pasta under the tutelage of Bailie Saiz. Some were first timers and others were looking for a refresher course.

Life Christian school continued their dominance of the Midstates Christian League Academic competition with a close 58-54 victory over Bethel Christian of Ottawa Friday in the Junior division (age 12 and under), hosted by Life Christian School.

The Easter Bunny will be in attendance for the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held in Columbus Saturday, April 8 at the Columbus City Park located at South Kansas and Country Road. Parents are welcome to take pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny.

Six Riverton musicians qualify for honor band

Six band students from Riverton High School have been selected to perform in the Four-State Honor Band at Pittsburg State University on May 4. A record number of students from all over the four-states were nominated by their band directors for seats in these ensembles.

Spaghetti fundraiser at FUMC

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned by the First United Methodist Church. For a suggested donation of $8, diners will receive spaghetti, salad, dessert and a drink. The dinner will be held Wednesday, April 12 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the church located at 320 W. Maple.

Local youth earn awards in Welch Round-Up Club
