Two communities will be coming together to support a family who has made a positive impact on many people. On Friday, February 17, when the Columbus Titans host the Galena Bulldogs in basketball, both communities will join in hosting a fundraiser for Dr. Brian and Marcia Smith.

A biscuits and gravy breakfast fundraiser will be held Saturday, February 25 at the Black Diamond Lodge #274. The lodge is located at 107 West Main in Weir. Serving will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. Cost is $6 per person.  

Monday blood drive in new location

There is a location change for the upcoming blood drive. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive Monday, February 20 between 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. The event will be held at St. Rose Parish Hall located at 129 N. Kansas. Appointments are strongly encouraged to manage donor flow.

In January, the elementary schools had a Character Education and talked about Eddie Eagle on gun safety, Rooster Booster on car seats and seatbelts, ALICE training on active shooter. The students had a coloring contest for Eddie Eagle, and Rooster Booster.

The 4-H Member of the Month for February is 13-year-old Amory Neely. Neely is in the eighth grade at Columbus Junior and Senior High School and maintains a 4.0 grade point average. She began her tenure in 4-H as a Cloverbud and is now in her sixth year as a member of the Shamrock 4-H Club.
