Celebrate the end of summer with Red Iron Activity Center

The public is invited to celebrate the end of one long hot summer at the Red Iron Activity Center Thursday, September 8. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the center which is located at 605 S. East Avenue in Columbus.

Horse awards have been announced. Champion senior showperson went to Hannah Helwig. Reserve Champion was Jessie Dietz. Mylee Mooney was Champion intermediate showperson and Akissa French was Reserve Champion.

Jessie Dietz was competing in on of the horse competitions. Dietz was named Reserve Champion in senior showmanship. She received the award for Reserve Champion Mare and Reserve Champion Gelding. Dietz received the High Point Performance Girl 14 and up award and she was named Reserve Overall Girl

White’s celebrate fortieth anniversary

Michael and Melody White were united in marriage August 28, 1982, at Riverside Inn in Ozark, Mo., next to the Finley River. Family and close friends attended the ceremony. Visitation and lunch were provided by the bride’s parents after the wedding. The couple traveled to Tulsa, Okla.

Titan Band impresses at Annual Meet the Titans

The Columbus Titan Band, 72 strong, opened the Annual Meet the Titans night, Monday, at the CUHS Gymnasium with the always impressive National Anthem followed by the Titan Fight Song.

Glittering Stones 4-H Club member Kayelynn Adoremos earned three purple ribbons and a blue ribbon in the Visual Arts and Crafts classes during the cherokee County Fair.

Open class results are posted for the Beef Cattle classes. Alexander Burton, Spring Valley Sparklers, received two blue ribbons in Beef Cattle classes. Tyson Capron received a red ribbon in Junior Bulls. Amyx Evans received a blue ribbon in Junior Heifer.

Results in the 4-H and Future Farmers of America Market Beef classes have been announced. Beckett Asher, Lone Elm Beavers, received blue ribbons in Bucket Calves and in Feeder Calves. Hudson Asher, Lone Elm Beavers, was the Reserve Champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing.
