Frontenac, Riverton advance in 3A tourney

Frontenac, the number one seed in the Kansas Class 3A Riverton Regional Softball Tournament, run-ruled Galena (5-19, the eighth seed), 15-0, in the quarterfinal game, Monday, in Riverton. The Lady Rams from Riverton (7-16), the number six seed, also advanced to the semi-final round with a 5-2 win over the number three seed, Caney Valley (14-6).

Carpino first at Columbus Invite

Cali Carpino, Lady Titan Seventh Grader, captured the top individual medal in the Columbus Junior High School Golf Tournament, April 30, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. Fallon Smiley, seventh grade, placed ninth in the final tournament of the 2024 season.

Regional 3A Golf postponed

The Kansas Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament hosted by Frontenac was postponed yesterday due to weather conditions. Teams are scheduled to be on the course at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg today beginning at 8:30 a.m.

CUHS Track yields league placers

The CUHS Track and Field Team had multiple placers at the CNC League Meet, Thursday, in Frontenac. The Lady Titans combined for 29 points and a fifth place team finish paced by freshman, Laney Atkinson, who placed third in the high jump and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Piper Hayes, junior, took third in the triple jump and fifth in long jump.

USD493 track meet canceled

The Columbus USD 493 Elementary Track and Field Meet scheduled for today has been cancelled. The event was planned to be held today at the CUHS Football Field.

Riverton to host Class 3A Regional

The Riverton Lady Rams are hosting the Kansas Class 3A Regional Softball Tournament beginning Monday. The Columbus Lady Titans are the second seed going into the tournament with a 21-3 regular season record and are looking for a return trip to the Kansas Class 3A State Championship Tournament.

Titans fifth at league finale

The Columbus Titan Golf Team wrapped up their CNC League schedule with a fifth place finish in the finale, Wednesday, at the Galena Invitational. The Titans tallied 363 team strokes in the last of six tournaments on the league schedule.

Golfers earn All-CNC League Honors

The CNC League Golfers completed their six scheduled tournaments to determine league champion and All-CNC League honorees. The top ten placers with the lowest number of strokes who have competed in all six tournaments received the All-CNC League designation.
