Titan Football Team Camp scheduled

The Columbus Titan High School Football Team Camp will be held July 6-9, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily at the Central School practice field. Forms for the camp went home after junior high camp, yesterday.Helmet and practice jersey only are needed for the camp.

Local softball players ages eight and under have met the last two Mondays at the Columbus Community Field Ball Park for instruction on the fundamentals of softball. Four Columbus Unified High School Softball Alumni have provided instruction for the clinics.

Emporia State to host contact camp

Emporia State University is hosting a football contact camp, July 10, at the Central School Soccer Pitch. Multiple schools will travel to Columbus for the event beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing to noon.Players will need helmets and shoulder pads.

Rockette 10U Team Classic, State champs

The Columbus Rockette 10 and Under Softball Team concluded their season in stellar fashion with a four-tournament win streak that included the Chad Saporito Summer Classic Softball Tournament in Columbus, June 13-14, and the USSSA State Tournament over the weekend in Derby.
Local cowboy Cal Saporito, had a wild ride in the recent Columbus Saddle Club Rodeo, May 12-14, at the Saddle Club Arena. Cal was the lone bull rider from Columbus and while his ride didn’t end as he would have wanted, the Fort Scott Community College commit, will have plenty of chances as he rides with the FSCC Rodeo Team throughout their 2026-27 season. Rockette 8U team wins Saporito Classic

The Columbus Rockette Softball 8U Team played their way to a champions ring in the The Rockettes went 1-1 in pool play, suffering their only loss to the Mud Turtles (Fort Scott), 11-14, in the first game and taking a big ,18-6, win over the CJ Dirt Dogs in the final game of the day, Saturday.

Columbus youth qualify for AAU Region 16 meet

Columbus members of the Girard Warriors Youth Track Club participated in the AAU Missouri Valley Districts in Topeka and Peculiar, Mo. to qualify for the Region 16 Regionals in Wichita June 25-28. The top 16 in the district advance to the regional.
