Babe Ruth 13-16 State opens in Frontenac today

The Columbus 13-16 year-old Babe Ruth Baseball Team will be playing in the Kansas Babe Ruth 13-16 year-old State Tournament, Saturday and Sunday in Frontenac.Events begin with the coaches and officials meeting, today at 3 p.m. followed by the picnic for players, coaches, and officials at 4:30 p.m.
The Columbus Cal Ripken 8 and Under/Coach Pitch All-Stars are hosting the Kansas Cal Ripken State Rookie Tournament, Saturday and Sunday at the Community Field Ball Park. Members of the team are front row: Bear Bowin, Kreed Roberts, Summit Betts, and Beau Crain. Back row: Trapper Clark, Casey Rowe, Cole Watkins, Colt Crain, Kayson Kessinger, and Jaxsyn Robinson. Cal Ripken Rookie State Saturday

The Columbus Cal Ripken League is hosting the Kansas 8U (Rookie) State Tournament, tomorrow and Sunday at the Community Field Ball Park on South Kansas Avenue.The tournament will utilize Rockette Field, the north west diamond in the park, for all six or seven games of the event.

The Columbus Babe Ruth League hosted the Kansas District 5 Tournament Saturday and Sunday on Bomber Field in the Columbus Community Field Ball Park. The local team was runner-up in the district following a championship loss to Frontenac, 15 to 2.

The Columbus Cal Ripken Baseball League is hosting the 12 and Under All-Stars in the Kansas Cal Ripken 12U State Tournament, Friday through Sunday. The Tournament kicks off with check-ins Friday, noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Crossland Conference Center.Coaches and Officials will meet at 4 p.m.

The CUHS Varsity Lady Titans ended their day in third place at a recent volleyball tournament in Oswego. Columbus was 8-7 in pool play, losing just one set. “We are a young team figuring out new positions for some but coming together,” stated head coach Ryan Lacen.

The Columbus Unified High School Fighting Titans will have their junior high and high school football camp Monday through Thursday July 8-11, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Central School Soccer Pitch, south of the New Gym parking area.

The Columbus Babe Ruth League is hosting the Kansas Babe Ruth 13-16 year-old, District 5 Tournament beginning Friday at the Columbus Community Field Ball Park.Erie and Fort Scott will kick off the tournament with Game 1, Friday at 6 p.m.Game 2 will be Arma vs. Frontenac at 8 p.m.
