Girard wins C Team two-quarter bout

The Columbus and Girard boys play two quarters of C Team ball, Friday, at the Central School Gym. The Trojans outscored the Titans, 30-10. Girard put up 16, first quarter points, while holding Columbus to on free throw by freshman, Braxtyn Buergin.

Strong start gives Girard opener

The Girard Trojans got off to a strong offensive start and held the hometown Titans to minimal scoring in the first three quarters to take a 58-32, CNC League win, Friday night in the Columbus 2023-24 home opener. Freshman, Cam Smith, opened the scoring for the Trojans.

Titan JV wrestles in Seneca Tournament

The Girard Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Team scored 22 points in the first quarter and didn’t look back in their 54-19, road win in Columbus, Friday. Junior, Sylar Sammons, scored nine of his game high 21 points in the opening period.

Eight Titan Wrestlers competed at the Midwest Materials Junior Varsity Tournament in Seneca, Mo., Saturday. Placing for Columbus were Sam Weaver, sophomore, fourth place in the 190 weight class and Cash Romstedt, freshman, placed sixth in the 165 weight class.

Columbus offense stale in loss

The Columbus Lady Titans had a hard time getting started in the new year as they hosted the Girard Lady Trojans for a CNC League contest, Friday night at the high school gym. The 4-2 Lady Trojans are now 3-0 in conference play with the 43-22 win over Lady Titans.

Wary leads jr. varsity loss to Girard girls

Lady Titan Freshman, Natalie Wary, led Columbus with four points in their tough loss to Girard, 9-46, in the junior varsity game, Friday at the CUHS Gym. The hosts could manage one basket per quarter against the well-seasoned visitors.

Newberry, Rodriguez second in 56th Augusta Tourney

The Titan Wrestling Team travelled to Augusta, Saturday, for the 56th Annual Augusta Invitational. Junior, Korbyn Newberry and sophomore, Jayden Rodriguez came away with second place medals in the 120-pound and 144-pound weight classes.

The Columbus Lady Titans won their home dual over Pittsburg High School, 51-18, Thursday, at the CUHS Gymnasium. Columbus had just three losses on the night and picked up five wins by forfeit. Senior, Grace Noel, and freshmen, Hannah Noel, Tatum Kirk, Cara Altis, and Marissa Lawson.
Cal Saporito, Titan Sophomore, pinned his Pittsburg opponent in a dual on his home mats, Thursday. Cal won then 113-pound weight class but Columbus lost the dual, 20-44, to the Purple Dragons at the CUHS Gymnasium.

The Pittsburg High School grapplers came to Columbus Thursday evening and exited with a 4420 win over the Titans on their home mats. The Titans took four wins over the Purple Dragons.
