Youth and heat were factors in the demise of the Columbus Titans in their 8-32, season opening loss at Girard, Friday night. Neither team had an abundance of upperclassmen, but an error led to the host team putting the first two points on the board via a safety call.

The Lady Titan Volleyball Team split varsity matches with Neodesha and Cherryvale, Thursday at the Columbus Unified High School Gymnasium. Columbus forced a tiebreaker against Neodesha by winning the second set, 25-20, after falling in the first set, 11-25, to the visitors.

The Southeast Lady Lancer were 1-2 Friday night at the Riverton High School quad with Baxter Springs and Erie. The lone win came over Baxter Springs, 25-14; 25-21 in the opening match. Erie took a three-set win, 22-25; 25-23; 10--25 and the Lady Rams swept a 25-9; 25-7 victory.

The Lady Titan C Team rebounded from a 2225, first set loss to win their home match, 26-24; 15-4, Thursday, at the CUHS Gym. Macee Troxel contributed to the C win with 23 service points and only one error, with ten aces. Marissa Lawson had 12 service points with no errors, and four aces.
