The Columbus Junior High Titans are practicing for the beginning of the 2023 Fall activities season. The Junior High offers three fall sports options for USD 493 seventh and eight grade students. The Cross Country Team is for boys and girls as they participate in split races throughout the season.

Members of the Mini Titan Football third through sixth grade teams benefited from the annual Titan Lawn Chair Scrimmage, Saturday, at Titan Stadium. Columbus has full squads with nearly 55 football players not counting the flag group in first and second grades.

The excessive Kansas heat warning in effect this week has moved the Columbus Unified High School Football Team to evening practices, Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m. at Titan Stadium. The Columbus Junior High Titans will be on the field for practice with the high school squad.

Lady Titan Tennis opener postponed at Labette Co.

The 2023 season opener for the Columbus Lady Titan Tennis Team has been postponed due to the heat index rules as enforced by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The dual with the Lady Grizzlies was scheduled for today at 3 p.m. A make-up date has not been set.
The Columbus Junior Golf Program hosted a Youth/Adult Scramble format tournament with 20 teams, competing for trophies and prizes. Winners in the B Flight were Sophia and Larry McReynolds. Bode and Jacob Saiz took third place as brother Cal cheered them on. Easton and Nathan Long finished in fourth place and Kamden, Kasen, Adam Sallee placed second. The tournament was held August 10 at the Brush Creek Golf Course to close out the Junior Golf Program’s season. Courtesy Photo.
