Free throw contest at City Park Court

The Columbus Rec Commission is hosting a free throw contest as part of the Freedom Fest, Saturday, at the Columbus City Park basketball court. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m. with a $50 cash awarded to winner in each of four divisions.

Titan Football camp time change

The times for the Columbus High School Titan Football Camp have changed to accommodate weight lifting times. The new times will be from 10 a.m. to noon, July 10-13 and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 14th. Dates of the camp remain the same.

Freedom Fest 5K Fun Run returns

The CUHS Lady Titan Softball Team and the Columbus Rec Commission are sponsoring the 2023 Columbus Freedom Fest 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Kid’s Fun Run. The runs will be held on Saturday, July 8. Registration begins at 6 a.m.. at the City Park pavilion, with the 5K race beginning at 7 a.m.

Runner-up in the 12U Major League Division of the Columbus Cal Ripken League is VFW. The team re- ceived medals at the league closing ceremony, Tuesday, at the Columbus Community Field Ballpark.

Weights suspended, floors upgraded

The Columbus High School and Junior High School weight training program will be suspended July 3-7. The CUHS Gym will be closed while floors are being resealed in preparation for the upcoming school year. Training will resume July 10th, girls will lift at 6 a.m. and boys will lift at 7:20 a.m.
