Lady Titan Sophomore, Katy Mooney is a 2023 All-CNC League Honorable Mention selection by league coaches voting in meetings held last week. The Columbus third baseman led the Lady Titans in runs-batted-in with 34. Mooney had 30 hits in 63 at-bats with two home runs for a .476 batting average.
Lady Titan Senior, Aubree Saporito, was the starting pitcher in the Kansas Class 3A State Quarterfinal loss to Rossville, 7-19. Aubree had 12 wins and two losses with an Earned Run Average of 2.183 through 14 games. She allowed 29 runs on 53 hits with 95 strikeouts and 15 walks. Saporito has signed to continue her career on the diamond at Crowder College this fall.

The Columbus Lady Titans were plagued by errors and cold bats in their 19-7, Kansas Class 3A State Quarterfinal game, Thursday night in Manhattan. The regional champions allowed the 19 runs on 14 hits and had an uncharacteristic, eight errors while facing a tough 174, sixth seeded, Rossville team.

The Columbus Girls Softball League, ages 8-14, is over halfway through their 2023 season just as the t-ball age group is about to begin. A full t-ball schedule is listed below along with the remaining games for the 8-14 age groups.

Titan Senior, Kayden Cox, threw a no-hitter in the 10-0, run-rule, shut out over Santa Fe Trail (202) in the Kansas Class 3A State Semi-final game, Friday morning in Manhattan. He stuck out three batters in five innings pitched and walked one using just 52 of his allotted 105 pitches for the day.

One hit put the Columbus Titans out in front early in the Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Championship and one hit late in the game gave their opponent, Wichita Collegiate the title, 6-4, and forced the two-time CNC and regional champions to settle for runner-up for the second season in a row.

The Frontenac Raider Golf Team placed fourth at the Kansas Class 3A State Golf Tournament, Tuesday, in Dodge City. The CNC League and Regional Champions had all six team members make the cut for day two to earn a combined total of 666.

Columbus Junior Babe Ruth is days away from opening their season. June 3, Columbus will host Chanute for a double header beginning at 2 p.m. The 13s will then travel to Parsons to play two games starting at 6 p.m. June 7, the 15-13 team will play a double header at Frontenac.
