Thomasson sweeps CCCJL eighth girls grade sprints

Rilyn Thomasson swept the eighth grade girls sprints and hurdles at the CCCJL Track and Field Meet, Tuesday, in Frontenac. Rilyn earned league championships in the 100M Dash, 200M Dash, 400M Dash and the 100M Hurdles helping the Riverton Lady Rams to a fourth place finish in the team standings.

Titan Golf fourth at Columbus Invitational

The Columbus Titan Golf Team placed fourth at their home invitational, Tuesday, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. The team total was 373 with Dallas Scott leading the Titans in tenth place.

Saporito has no-hitter at Colgan

Aubree Saporito, Lady Titan Senior, pitched a first game no-hitter, shut out, over the St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers, 15-0, Monday, in Pittsburg. Junior, Graci Major, followed with a five-inning, 16-0, shut out in game two to sweep the CNC League double header.

Galena participates in junior high league meet

The Galena Junior High School participated in the CCCJ League Track and Field Meet in Frontenac, Tuesday. The seventh grade girls placed fourth with 39 points behind Columbus on third with 46.33 team points. The eighth grade boys also finished behind the Titans in third place.

Scales joins Connors State to Rodeo

Southeast Lancer Senior, Wyatt Scales, has signed a letter of intent to join the Connors State College Rodeo Team in Warner, Oklahoma and compete in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Wyatt competes in steer wrestling and tiedown calf roping.

Girard sweeps Baxter Springs

The first pitch to the Lady Trojans at the Lady Lions home field was an indicator of Girard’s hitting strength. Erin Anderson, sophomore, sailed the first pitch over the wall. She waited for a 2-0 count to hit another dinger as the leadoff hitter in the second game.

Junior High Titans compete in Girard

The Columbus Junior High School Eighth Grade Girls Track and Field Team placed third in the 13-team Girard Invitational, Thursday, in Girard. The Lady Titans placed third with 62 team points. The host, Girard teams won all divisions, winning the eighth grade girls with 114.

Lady Titan Junior, Graci Major, threw her fourth shutout of the season and racked up seven runsbatted-in against the Pittsburg Lady Purple Dragons in a two-game sweep. She is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Simpson hits five minute mark in new 1600M record

Titan Eighth Grader, Levi Simpson, improved his school record mark in the 1600M Run, Thursday, at the Frontenac Invitational Track and Field Meet. Levi’s new record of 5:00 minutes eclipsed the record he set earlier this season by four seconds.
