Cal Ripken final signups Saturday

The Columbus Cal Ripken League is holding their second and final signups, Saturday, at the Community Field Ball Park. League officials will be at the concession stand from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to sign-up players for the 2023 spring/ summer season.

Multitudes of young wrestlers converged on the local high school gymnasium, February 19, for the Fourth Annual Ken Jones Classic Tournament hosted by the Columbus Wrestling Club.

Riverton finished the Baxter Springs Lions, 6855, in their final match ups on senior night in Baxter Springs. The Rams finished the regular season 12-8 and Baxter Springs was 7-13 in the regular season. The first period score was in Riverton’s favor after Lion Senior, Logan Gess, hit a field goal.

The Columbus Lady Titans looked like a different team, Tuesday night, when they fell to the Lady Raiders, 58-40, in Frontenac. The host team held the Lady Titan leading scorers to less than ten points. Although they were able to hang with the tough Frontenac team through the first quarter.

Titans edge Raiders to end season

The Columbus Titan Basketball Team edged the Raiders to end their regular season with a 16-4 record in Frontenac, Tuesday. The Raiders fall to 9-1 on the season. Titan Senior, Brett Hamilton, stole the tip off from the Raiders and was fouled on his attempted basket.

The Columbus Recreation Basketball League is hosting the final games of the season, tomorrow in all three USD 493 Gymnasiums against Galena. Games begin at 8 a.m. in the Columbus Unified High School Gymnasium with the sixth grade boys. The third grade girls open the action at 8:30 a.m.

CUHS hosts Galena for girls sub-state

The Columbus Lady Titans completed their regular season with a loss in Frontenac, Tuesday. That put Columbus in a tie for third with Riverton, 11-9, in the final Kansas Class 3A Girard Sub-State standings.
