JV wins first game of the season

Quapaw, Oklahoma jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the Columbus Junior Varsity home opener, Tuesday, at the Community Field Ballpark. But the Junior Titans came back with seven runs in the fourth inning to take the win in their first game of the season, 11-6.

CWC Wrestlers place at state tourney

The Columbus Wrestling Club sent 19 wrestlers to the USAWKS State Wrestling Tournament, March 14-15 in Topeka. Wrestlers placing fourth through sixth earned a spot on top of the podium. Brooklyn Collingsworth placed fourth in the high school girls 140-pound weight class.

Final girls softball sign-ups Saturday

The Columbus Girls Softball League will hold their final sign-up day, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Columbus Community Field Ballpark Concession Stand. This is the last in-person sign-up for the league.

Last chance for baseball sign-ups

Saturday will be the final sign-up for the Columbus Cal Ripken League, 4-12 year old players. League officials will be on hand a the Columbus Community Field Ballpark Concession Stand, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.Sign-up fee is $45 per player covers a jersey, hat, and insurance fee.

Titan Powerlifters prep for state meet

The Columbus Unified High School Powerlifters are preparing for their Kansas State Meet, Saturday, in Iola. The Titans have competed in two virtual meets since January hosted by Goddard High School and Olathe East High School.

CUHS Baseball 2-1 in Multi-state Festival

Following a 6-3 win to open their season, Thursday, the Columbus Titan Baseball Team suffered their first loss, 0-8, Friday to Seneca, Mo. in the Multi-State Baseball Festival hosted by Seneca and Wyandotte, Oklahoma High Schools. The win Thursday came over Wyandotte on their home field.

Titan Senior, Brandon Stice, placed first overall in the 181-weight class at the Olathe East Virtual Powerlifting Meet March 3. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.
Members of the Columbus Recreation Commission’s Lady Titan League were introduced during the CUHS Basketball game with Girard in February. Members of the third grade Lady Titan Team are Willow Patton, Peyton Hayes, Teagan Jarrett, Wren Ellis, Andi Parsons, Hadley Bessman, and Mariah Moser. Teammates not pictured are Carrie Mooreman, Hayven Griffoth, and Shay Neely. The team is coached by Anna Moser, above. Lance Moser and Vanessa Jarrett also coached the team. Morgan Moser served as assistant coach.

Columbus is hosting their home opener, Thursday, at the Columbus Community Field Ballpark’s Rockett Field. The varsity game will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the junior varsity game. Lady Titans open with jamboree

The Columbus Unified High School Lady Titan Softball Team played a Jamboree in Chanute, Saturday. A softball jamboree is a glorified practice. Columbus played four innings against other teams, Trinity /Academy, Cherryvale, and Chanute.
