Lions hang on for 8A win against Titans

A major drought in the second and third quarters gave the Baxter Springs Lions an opportunity to build a lead over the visiting Columbus Titan Eighth Graders and hold on for the win, 28-20, Monday, in the season opener for the CCCJL teams.

Columbus Titan Senior, Jace Midgett, was recently tapped to participate in the 2025 Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star Game. His is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

The annual junior high boys jamboree will be held in Columbus, Saturday, January 11. The Titans will close out their first week of contests by hosting a threeteam jamboree.All games will be played at the Central School Campus utilizing both gymnasiums.

The Columbus Junior High School Boys Basketball Team open their season before they return to classes and travel out of town for their first, three games.USD493 Teachers return to school, Monday, for a personal development day while students return to classes, Tuesday.

Blaze was also the winner of the 14U, 105-110 pound weight class in the tournament.
