I ripped the new page of my calendar off this week, and what a feeling of victory went through me. We made it. We journeyed through 2022 with a brave heart and chin up while we cut through each day like a trek through a wild jungle.

George Savage, of Riverton, filed as a candidate for Kansas state representative from the first district. The post of first district state representative is currently held by Tim Shallenburger of Baxter Springs.
Messages from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
Christmas morning brings our thoughts to the child in a manger, the Christ child.
But the Christmas reading is from the Gospel of John. There is no mention of the Christmas story at all in this reading. No baby Jesus. No Christ child.
The Beginning of Knowledge
The Bible is chockfull of the accounts of powerful men and women who accomplished great things. Some of the details are fantastic, with a larger-thanlife theme many share.
Happy New Year. For the pessimists, “Happy New Fear.” The giant pumpkin, grown by Wilbur Fleegle of Winslow’s Holler, rolled off the courthouse roof at midnight. Wilbur was right proud of his mushy gourd. He said, “I grew that plump plopper from a seed.” Folks figured that was the case.
Ask just about anyone what state they would like to visit that they haven’t been to yet and I venture to guess that at least eight out of 10 would say either Hawaii or Alaska. I have had the good fortune to visit both states more than once and both are beautiful and also unique.

Debbie Norris, of Scammon, was winner of a free 8x10 photo entitled “ Where’s the Ball” and a ten dollar bill from the photo exhibit which was held during the month of December at the Columbus Museum.
