A group of carolers from Center Christian Church made their rounds singing a number favorite holiday tunes. One of the residents to receive a Christmas serenade was Betty Zwahlen who seemed to enjoy the musical ensemble.

Hodgsons welcome son James Tripp

Travis, Tera, and Paislee Kay Hodgson welcomed their son and brother, James Tripp Hodgson, Tuesday, December 7, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Mo. James arrived at 4:01 a.m. weighing six pounds, 3.1 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long. His maternal grandparents are Bryon and Traci Spear, Columbus.

Cars lined the streets around the Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs as members of the Southeast Kansas Ministerial Alliance packed boxes full of food for the holidays for area families in need.

Webb to retire from American Bank

Folks have walked up to the teller’s window at Baxter Springs banking institutions for the past 52 years and found a familiar face looking back. That will be no more after this week as the familiar face of Dennis Webb will be retiring.
