Youth bee keeping scholarship

Applications for the Beekeeping Scholarship Program are now being taken by the Cherokee County Bee Keepers. The applicant must be between the ages of 12 and 17 years old by January 1 of the application year. The applicant must be a resident within a 30- mile radius from Columbus.

Elmore named member of month

Cherokee County 4-H had named their member of the month for September. Zoie Elmore is 15 years old and a member of the Spring Valley Sparklers. Elmore is currently the club president. At the fair, she has shown horses, breeding beef, swine, goats, chickens and waterfowl.

How can you tell school is back in session? When the Back to School Carnival comes to Columbus City Park. Thursday evening bounce houses filled the park as parents and children turned out to play games, have snacks and enjoy the festivities.
