Aubrey Jordan Bokay, 26, was arrested Tuesday by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of interference with Law Enforcement; obstruct or resist and is being held in lieu of $3,000 bail.

Fashionable 4-H members earn awards for buymanship, construction

Results have been announced for the 4-H style revue classes. Amory Neely, Shamrock, was Grand Champion in construction. Brooklyn Paxson, Spring Valley Sparklers, was Reserve Champion in Construction.

What a difference a month makes

What a difference a month makes in many ways. In June we had a total of 10.4 inches of rain recorded in the little frog rain gauge. I really thought the frog might croak when there was 7.8 inches total in him on June 29 and 30. The frog didn’t but some of the flowers did. In July there was only 2.

Democrats to hold meeting in Scammon

The Cherokee County Democrat Party will hold their monthly meeting, Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m. at Scammon City Park at 5 th and Keith. All Democrats and like mind citizens are invited to attend. Please dress comfortable and bring lawn chairs, hopefully it will be a cool evening.

Student offers research about Japanese culture, travel

UGH! Moving schools can be hard! If you have ever moved schools you could probably relate to Mimi Chan. “Who is she?” you might ask. She is the main character in the book Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton. This book is about a girl who is both Japanese and African American.

Results announced in 4-H arts, crafts classes

Results in the 4-H arts and crafts and fine arts classes have been announced. Senior Grand Champion in arts and crafts was awarded to Sylas Stone, Glittering Stones. Senior Reserve Grand Champion was awarded to Dusti Henderson, Spring Valley Sparklers.

The Columbus Public Library will be open to the public, with a five person limit. Mondays 9 p.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. By appointment only. Thursdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays 9 a.m.-noon. Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon.

County dog show champions receive ribbons

Wyatt Alexander was named Grand Champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing at the dog show held during the Cherokee County Fair. Alexander is a member of the Spring Valley Sparklers. Michael Shepard, Spring Valley Sparklers, was Grand Champion in Senior Fitting and Showing.
