Frobish descendants hold family reunion

The descendants of Will and Lizzie Frobish held their thirty-eighth annual reunion at the Cherokee County 4-H Building in Columbus, Sunday July 4, with 80 in attendance from seven States, including Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Indiana, and Idaho.

In the Poultry Intermediate

In the Poultry Intermediate Fitting and Showing Class, Hudson Asher was Grand Champion and Oasis Wade was Reserve Champion. Wade was also named Reserve Champion in Bantam Old. Asher was named Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in Pigeons.

In the Poultry Junior

In the Poultry Junior Fitting and Showing Class, Katherine King was Reserve Champion and Hadley Holmes was Grand Champion. The Poultry show was held during the Cherokee County Fair.

Local enrollment information

Columbus USD493 will hold enrollment Wednesday, August 4 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the Columbus high school cafeteria. Baxter Springs USD508 Enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year will be August 5 and 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It is time to think about registering your child or grandchild for the Little Mr. and Miss Columbus contest for 2021. Boys and girls must be between the ages of three and five years of age, in the Columbus USD 493 district. The children chosen to be the 2021 Little Mr.

As the Cherokee County Fair celebrated its 93rd year, a young man celebrated his twelfth and final year of competition. The Cherokee County Fair is much more than carnival rides and a livestock show. It’s community coming together to celebrate and learn.
