Christian comedy show at Oswego Baptist Church

Christian comedy fans are invited to a laughterfilled evening at Oswego Baptist Church. On Saturday, March 7, Bob Courtney, also known as Pastor Pudge, will share a unique comedic style. Admission is free and no tickets are required.Festivities begin with a chili dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Assessing our character

Self-reflection can often lead us on many paths. We may ponder on matters of our past or perhaps our current situation in life. We may think about the relationships we have or why we have chosen to include those that we have in our lives.

Wright makes 2,000 caps for infants

In June 2023 Columbus resident Ruby Wright had made over 1,000 hand knitted caps for babies born at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.Fast forward to 2026. Wright has now completed 2,011 caps. She recently delivered a cap to two-day old Afredo Rodriguez.

Chapter BT holds memorial service

A memorial service was held for members of Chapter BT of P.E.O. Sisterhood International who passed to chapter eternal at the February 16 meeting the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs.The program was presented by Mary Beth Smith on the piano.

Auxiliary hears report on new sign

At the February 17 meeting of the Columbus Mercy Auxiliary Angie Saporito, Hospital Administrator, gave an update on happenings around the hospital. She told the group new signage has been installed at the hospital, with more to be added and landscaping is being discussed.

The lasting power of prayer

We may have varied thoughts on what prayer means to us. We may have a routine for prayer, or in other instances, we may tend to pray as we feel it is necessitated. Importantly, we should always keep in mind that much prayer is of a strongly personal nature.

The foundation of trust

Trust can sometimes be a difficult thing to navigate within our relationships. While we certainly acknowledge the different levels of trust that we assign on an individual basis, a deeper point for reflection is thinking about where this trust comes from.

Love in daily living

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Christ declares the commandments of love (for God and one’s neighbor) as the greatest. As the month of February is filled with feelings of love and sentimentality, it serves as agood time for reflection upon what love truly means to us.
