Columbus Fire department visited Highland and Park Elementary schools for National Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters spoke to students about fire safety, the importance of smoke detectors, knowing how and when to call 911 and developing family escape plans. They were able to give out over 300 fire prevention packets to students. “This is one of our favorite parts of our job, interacting with the kids and hopefully making a positive impact in their life,” said Fire Chief Steven Burton.

Cookin-N-Khakis represented by Nate Long was the overall champion in the Columbus Day Police, Pork and Pride barbecue competition. Long placed first in Chicken, Ribs and Pork.
