Gracie Davolt was awarded two separate tuition scholarships from Bethany College during the Senior Awards Ceremony prior to graduation, May 14. Gracie received the Bethany Award for $11,000 a year a Bethany Music Scholarship for $3,000 a year.

Wilsons celebrate fiftieth anniversary

A 50 th wedding anniversary celebration for Bill and Margie Wilson of Weir was held June 12 with friends and family at St. Bridget’s Parish Hall in Scammon. Bill Wilson and Margie O’Brien were united in marriage June 10, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons.

Center Christian Church hosts ‘Zoomerang’ VBS

Center Christian Church recently held their Zoomerang Vacation Bible School. Youngsters learned about wildlife, the culture of Australia and explored how God values life.

Mister Frog may have been doing backstroke

So much for the saying “April showers bring May flowers”. All April brought was cold weather until the last day of the month and we had 2.7 inches of rain. I wished that was all we had because May was very wet. I think I saw Mr. Frog doing the backstroke in the flowerbed.

Members of the Heart of the Heartland Train Museum

Members of the Heart of the Heartland Train Museum were all decked out in their trainmen uniforms for the train rides on Saturday. John Chambers and Bill Gillfellan talked with three young visitors Stephen Hibbs, Alex Holting and Garon Lee.

The train is ready to make another excursion ride for visitors. The rides were available in connection with the Big Iron Overland Rally being held at Big Brutus.
