The hunter safety course in Columbus was sponsored by the Cherokee County Sportsman’s Club and was held in their facility West of Columbus. State Conservation Officer Scott Leamon and Rhonda Viets of the Sportsman’s Club actually put the plan together.

The family of Lottie Bass (center) surprised her with a party in honor of her 89th birthday. Bass was joined by her children Randy Bass, Sharon Carpino, Phyllis Kelly, Shirley Redd, Loretta Bass and Phillip Bass. Her party was held at the Columbus American Legion Post Saturday afternoon.
