Course teaches hunter safety

The hunter safety course in Columbus was sponsored by the Cherokee County Sportsman’s Club and was held in their facility West of Columbus. State Conservation Officer Scott Leamon and Rhonda Viets of the Sportsman’s Club actually put the plan together.

Nine teams compete in April bass tourney

Clear skies and comfortable temperatures set the stage for nine teams to participate in the Columbus Bass Club’s April tournament. The men met at Columbus Bait and Tackle before heading out to the designated fishing pit ahead of the event April 9.

The family of Lottie Bass

The family of Lottie Bass (center) surprised her with a party in honor of her 89th birthday. Bass was joined by her children Randy Bass, Sharon Carpino, Phyllis Kelly, Shirley Redd, Loretta Bass and Phillip Bass. Her party was held at the Columbus American Legion Post Saturday afternoon.
