Part of the fun of the Fourth of July is a picnic in the park. Saturday the Baxter Springs Fire Department furnished hot dogs for the kids and the city provided the table disguised as a man hole cover. The family includes Juliette Hunt, 3; Carroline Hunt, 6; Franklin Hunt, 4; and Amber Hunt.
The Red Hat Society of the Four States were in the Baxter Springs parade and touring the festival Saturday morning. All decked out in their Fourth of July finery and red hats. They are Jean Neal, Kathy Wilkerson, Bonnie Adams, Gabrielle Jones and Cheryl Haggard. The pink hat indicates a member under the age of 50.
The Fourth of July, well the third of July, was extra festive this year in Baxter Springs.
