A 15-year prison sentence was handed down to Tony Lucian Helms, 53, of Baxter Springs, Friday after he entered a guilty plea in Newton County Circuit Court. He was sentenced on one count of unlawful use of a weapon for aiding or abetting the shooting a firearm from a vehicle. Additional charges of assault and armed criminal action were dismissed.
