Retiring Cherokee County Assessor Mark Hixon has been appointed to the Kansas State Board of Tax Appeals by Gov. Laura Kelly and is awaiting conformation by the Kansas State Senate.
Hixon has been the Cherokee County Appraiser since 2015 after serving in Shawnee County.
He had announced his retirement from Cherokee County effective July 1.
