The Columbus Junior High School Chess team competed in the recent tournament. This is the first time in several years Columbus has had enough participants to field a junior high team. The Chess Team sponsor is Buddy Derfelt and they play their matches on Saturday.
The annual pig roast at the Baxter Springs United Methodist Church was well attended. The servers were Kathy Carnahan, Samme Watson and Gayhlene Smith.

Several high school students took time from their class schedule to help assemble Thanksgiving boxes.
When assembling boxes for Thanksgiving, volunteers are important. High school students took time out from class to help fill boxes for those in need. Carrrying in groceries, putting them in the boxes and organizing items were just a few of the tasks completed.
Seth Stover was one of the Columbus High School students spending some time carrying in groceries, organizing them and filling up the boxes for those in need.
Not only did students participate in assembling the Thanksgiving boxes, so did several members of the faculty including Matt Crain.
