A special Juneteenth celebration is being presented Thursday evening at the Cherokee County Extension office. The special program will feature Senator Cindy Holscher and Dr. Don Coover speaking.The Cherokee County Democrat Party is hosting the Meet the Candidates event.

New county clerk takes oath of office

The new Cherokee County Clerk, Taylor Brown, received notification late Thursday that Gov. Laura Kelly had made her appointment as County Clerk official.She was sworn in as the County Clerk on Friday by Judge Douglas Steele Friday morning and took over the office.
