County closes two polling stations

Some Cherokee County voters will be utilizing a new polling location. Effective June 25, the Cherokee County Clerk’s Office has made the decision to close the Center Christian Church and Galena City Hall polling locations.

Smith scholarships awarded

Over the past nine years, Columbus First United Methodist Church has presented $37,950 in scholarships. These scholarships were made possible through the generosity of Starr and Eugenia Smith, who were interested in young people and their education.

Fort Hays State University announces spring 2026 graduates. Local graduates include Hayden Wilson graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance, from Weir.FHSU has also announced the Spring 2026 Dean’s Honor Roll.

The Labette Bank Golden Adventure Club recently traveled to Branson, Mo. to attend the inspiring musical David at the Sight & Sound Theatre. Before the per- formance, club members enjoyed a delicious plated lunch at McFarlain’s Restaurant and spent time shopping at the Tanger Outlets.
