The resignations of three officers of Salamanca Township were accepted by the Cherokee County Commissioners at their meeting Monday morning.Township Trustee Brenda Grant, Township Treasurer Bob Brassart and Waycee Brassart resigned effective immediately.

County schools score low in state testing

According to a recent “report card” issued by the Kansas Policy Institute the Cherokee County schools did not fare well in the state testing last year.The 2024 A-F grading of Kansas schools has detailed information on over 1,300 public and private schools for the past four years.

During the early 1960’s slightly more than 200,000 Canada geese were observed during the winter surveys in the Central Flyway. In January 2001, approximately 1.25 million were reported.
