Officers begin free youth bowling league

Beginning June third, the Columbus Police Department in partnership with Bowler’s Boulevard will be hosting a youth bowling league for sixth through twelfth grade students.The league has been dubbed “Bowling with the Blue” and pairs students with a police officer for a four-week league.

Keenagers choir, Parsons orchestra will perform

A celebration of America’s 250th birthday and the 100th birthday of the iconic Route 66 is planned by the Keenagers Choir and the Parsons Community Orchestra, both under the direction of Scott Nelson.

Arrests made in separate child sex offense cases

Two arrests for sexual crimes against children were made in Cherokee County this week.Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David Plummer, 40, Baxter Springs Monday on four counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by Cherokee County detectives.

Renda Kay Morris, 60, was arrested Monday by Oswego Police officers on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possess paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement officer and is being held without bail.

Cherokee County Jail Report

Steven Jeffery Cronick, 28, was arrested Sunday by Baxter Springs Police officers on charges of domestic battery; physical contact in rude manner and was released on $445 bail.
