Grant provides storage options for food pantry

A local church ministry received a $9,000 grant from the Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline. The Hope Chest Free Store, a ministry of Baxter Springs First Assembly of God, opened its doors June 6, 2019.

When the Mount Carmel Foundation ceased operations in 2024, it transferred its assets to the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas to establish the Mount Carmel Foundation Legacy grant cycle.
