A Baxter Springs firefighter suffered burns and was taken from the scene while the department was fighting a fire Friday night. Three departments were dispatched to 14th Street and Lions Road, at 10:49 p.m. Friday night to a structure fire.

USD 508 buys BS Community Center building

The “old” Baxter Springs Community Building located at 506 W. Fourth Street will be purchased by the Baxter Springs USD 508 for $25,000 from the City of Baxter Springs. The board voted to purchase the building following an executive session to discuss the acquisition of real property.

Football contest winners
