Becoming a member of the Columbus USD 493 Educator Hall of Fame is a prestigious honor. Members of the Hall have made an impact on the lives of their students. Members must have been an employee of and worked in the Columbus school district for a minimum of 10 years before their retirement.

On Saturday night, legendary Baxter Springs coach Don Karnes was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Kari Soper presented John Smittle with his Educator Hall of Fame recognition at the annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner. Smittle taught in both the junior high and the high school.
