US69 project moves closer to county line

US 69 Highway will be one step closer to Cherokee County as the fourlane will reach Highway 47 intersection by fall of 2022. KDOT officials told the US 69 Association at their annual meeting Wednesday at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg.

Area Accident Report

After attempting to flee from Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies, a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by William A. Kukovich, 28, Haysville, was involved in an accident. Kukovich did not stop at a red light at Kansas Highway 171 and US Highway 400 Junction.

Burglary suspect arrested

Authorities have arrested 38-year-old Lucas Jarrett on allegations of aggravated burglary. The arrest stems from a weekend incident outside of Weir, where Jarrett is suspected of breaking into a garage and attempting to steal property.

Baxter Springs PEO meets for luncheon

Back to school was the theme for the Baxter Springs’ Chapter BT of the P.E.O. Sisterhood meeting Tuesday, September 7. The noon luncheon was held in the Baxter Springs First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The Chapter’s officers served as hostesses.
