Seeking return of the recycling trailer to the Columbus city recycling site, Toni Speath asked the County Commissioners when people could expect the trailer to return. The trailer had been removed to make repairs to the tops of the bins.

Following several years of requesting the state to approve the repair of the bridge on Wyandotte Road southeast of Columbus County Road Supervisor Cody Zook has moved the request to the top of the list. The bridge is in bad condition both above and below the roadway.

CUHS instructor receives LCC Adjunct Faculty of Year award

The 2021 Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year Award Recipient at Labette Community College went to a Columbus High School Math instructor. The recipient this year, Luke Henke has been an adjunct instructor in the mathematics department since 2010.

A joint birthday party was held by the Columbus Unified High School class of 1969 at the Legion fair grounds. Class members celebrated being 70 years young. Those attending inlcuded front row left to right: Kerry McKinzie, Anita Robinson Davolt and Brenda Hall Ayers.

Local students graduate from WSU

Nearly 2,175 degrees and certificates were awarded to more than 2,000 students at Wichita State University in spring 2021. There were 1,521 students who earned their undergraduate degree and 652 who earned their graduate degree. Students from Cherokee County earning their degrees included Jaylyn B.
