GOP senators want cap on home’s taxable assessed value

A group of GOP senators want to amend the Kansas Constitution to establish an annual cap on a home’s taxable assessed value, but opinions are split on whether it will provide real relief.

A Baxter Springs man, Kenneth Baker, 41, who was arrested on federal child pornography charges in June 2025 has been sentenced.A four-month investi-gation began after software detected images requested from Baker’s IP address.

Cherokee man killed in two vehicle accident

A two-vehicle accident in Crawford County has resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man from Cherokee.A 1995 Ford F150 driven by Craig Silvey, was traveling west on Highway K126 approximately 2.6 miles west of Highway U69. Reports state Silvey was passing multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed.
