Sheriff plans for additional inmates

Housing of inmates for out of county facilities generated $36,715 during the month of April according the Sheriff David Groves. Sheriff Groves said he has been working with other sheriffs in the state who are needing to house prisoners during renovations.

The new Splash Pad for Discovery Park is expected to be shipped June 1, and be installed for a July opening. The feature is somewhat of a mini water park. The new pad will not replace or change the gazebo which will remain the center feature of the park.

Book of former Advocate columns published

The son of a former Columbus newspaper editor has recently published a book of this father’s newspaper columns. In his third book about his father, Michael G. Skidmore, used a collection of columns written by his father Charles “Ed” Skidmore for the Columbus Daily Advocate between 1930 and 1943.

A one-vehicle injury accident occurred April 16 at approximately 2:36. A 2007 Nissan Maxima driven by Garrett Weidner, 31, Oswego, was traveling east near 1623 14000 Road. Weidner fell asleep and entered the north ditch, hitting the north side and began to spin.
