Jeffrey Scott, 62, of Galena

Jeffrey Clifford Scott, 62, of Galena, died at his home October 5, 2023. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and grandfather. Jeff was born December 8, 1960, in Joplin, Mo. He was a life-long resident of the Tri-State area.

Jeff is survived by his devoted wife, Kelly Scott and his four children from an earlier marriage: Shain Scott, Sarah Scott, Samantha Hoffman (Colton) and Suzanne Scott. His legacy lives on through his children and five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Jeff is also survived by his siblings; Krista Gough and Karla Haverfield both of Baxter Springs, Karen Simpson of Joplin, Mo. and Paul Scott of Summerville, South Carolina.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Scott and Barbara Clifford Scott and his siblings, Rick Hood, Randy Hood, Jimmy Scott and Lisa Scott.

Jeff served in the United States Air Force as a medical technician. He was fond of recounting “there I was” stories of his time in the service helping others. After that, he joined the Olathe fire department, showcasing his continuing commitment to serving his community and country. Wanting to return to southwest Missouri area, Jeff became the proud owner of the Shady Beach Resort in Noel, Mo. for several years, where he loved to camp, canoe and talk to people from all walks of life. Before retiring Jeff worked at Jayhawk Fine Chemicals for several years.

A memorial service is planned for a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Mo.
