Carolyn Jean (Tyson) Tomlinson, 67, of Oswego, died Saturday, October 14, 2023, at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. Born August 18, 1956, Carolyn was the daughter of Logan and Evalee Tyson. She was the youngest of four daughters.
Growing up in Oswego she enjoyed participating in Girl Scouts, designing and sewing her own clothing with dreams of becoming a clothing designer and spending time with her friends and family.
Carolyn and Buddy Tomlinson were united in marriage April 8, 1977. Carolyn and Buddy raised three amazing children and were blessed with 12 treasured grandchildren. If you knew Carolyn, you knew that this was what she was most proud of in her life.
Carolyn also loved to gather with extended family to celebrate birthdays, holiday and other significant events in the lives of those she loved. Carolyn enjoyed flowers, crafting, decorating, cooking and baking and she used those skills and interests to add special touches to her home and to all of the other ventures she undertook. Carolyn provided daycare services in her home in Oswego for nearly 40 years and sold her infamous chocolate chip cookies and baked goods locally and online, shipping them to customers all over the world.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Logan and Evalee Tyson, sister Jessie Tyson, granddaughter Hope Smith, sister-in-law Angie Tomlinson and brotherin-law Steve Rooney. Carolyn is survived by her husband Buddy Tomlinson, son Brian Smith (wife Christina), daughters Angela Mix and Tera Wince (husband Nic), grandchildren Bryce Smith, Miranda Belt (husband Josh), Cy Smith, Brayden Smith (wife Ashley), Mercy Smith, Miriam Mix, Samuel Mix, Emma Mix, Janessa Carlton, Breanna Wince, Malory Wince and Evie Tomlinson-Wince, great-granddaughters Ella Smith and her mother Laura Seeber, Valerie Belt, sisters Linda Barns (husband Bob), Judy Hollon (husband Eugene), brothers-in-law Jim Tomlinson (wife Nicki), Duane Tomlinson (wife Missy), sisters-in-law Teresa Rooney, Brenda Tomlinson Spears and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oswego. A graveside service will follow.
