Marjorie Rae (Houser) Henderson, 93, of Columbus, died October 25, 2023 at Grand Villas where she resided for eight months. Born January 26, 1930, in Columbus, Marjorie was the daughter of Glenn and Rosa (Puttkamer) Houser. She was the sixth of twelve children. They preceded her in death. Six brothers Joe, John, Glenn, Teddy, David, and Raymond, three sisters Christine, Alice, and Juanita, husband Bill and two sons Bobby and Jim.
Margie was a graduate of Cherokee County Community High School with the class of 1948.
Margie and her one and only love, G.W. (Bill) Henderson, were united in marriage July 1, 1950. Together, they had three children - George R. (Bobby), Mary and James D. (Jim).
Margie worked at the Parsons Ammunition Plant and the Columbus Telephone Office before she and Bill moved the family to St. Petersburg, Fla. In 1960. There she worked at the Honeywell Corporation.
In 1979, Margie returned to the family farm to help care for her parents. She worked at the USD #493 board office and Maude Norton Hospital before retiring in 1992.
Margie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her love of playing cards, babysitting family members, her strawberry rhubarb pie, sour cream raisin pie and baking many other goodies.
Margie was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Columbus. She was also active in the Eastern Star and a local Girls Night Out group.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bob) Epler of Columbus. Her sisters, Peggy LaCoste of Columbus; Treva Evans of Scammon; and sister-in-law Gayle Houser of Columbus. Six grandchildren: Brennan (Jessica) Seitz and Chad (Laura) Epler all of Columbus; Chelsea (Joe) Barbercheck of Leawood; Keenan Henderson of Abilene; Cory Epler of Lincoln, Neb.; and Brandon (Victoria) Seitz of Port Huron, Mich. along with five great-grandchildren: Millicent and Claudia Barbercheck, Addison and Elsie Seitz, and Vivian Seitz and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family is honoring her wishes to be cremated and ashes spread at the family farm; no public service will be held.
